Emergency Shelter

In the event of an emergency requiring citizens to obtain temporary shelter, they may go to the Mulvane Emergency Services Building at 910 E. Main St. which will hold a capacity of 50 people or the Mulvane City Hall/Police Department at 211 N. Second St. which has a capacity to hold 25 people.

The local churches will be asked thereafter to help if there is a need to house more people in an emergency situation considering the churches continue to have electricity.

If a longer period of 24 hours is needed in an emergency, the city will work with the homeless to contact relatives in the surrounding areas to help aid in their shelter.  If relatives are not availabe the EMS building can accommodate citizens longer than 24 hours by utilizing cots, restrooms facilities and kitchen areas.

The police department is also open 24  hours a day for shelter during a tornado.

For information contact the non-emergency police number at 777-4262.
