City elections are held every two (2) years in the odd numbered year.  Mulvane will have a General Election for City Council and School Board positions on November 5, 2019.  The three Council positions up for election are:  Mayor Shelly Steadman, Councilmembers Kevin Cardwell and Nancy Farber Mottola.


Persons interested in running for Mulvane City Council must file for office at the Sedgwick County Election Office, 510 N. Main, #101, Wichita, KS 67203.  Filing deadline is June 3, 2019 at 12:00 Noon.  Candidates for City Offices will no longer file for office with the City Clerk.  The Sedgwick County Election Office is open Monday – Friday from 8 am – 5 pm.  The filing fee for all City and School Offices is $20 and is due at the time of filing unless the candidate chooses to file by petition in lieu of the filing fee.   If there are more than three times the number of candidates as there are positions then a Primary Election is required to be held, it will occur on August 6, 2019. 


All candidates will complete the following forms:

  • Form CS – City and School Declaration of Intention – available in person at the Sedgwick County Election Office; signature must be attested by their office.

The term of office shall commence on the second Monday in January following certification of the election.  Every person elected or appointed to city office, before entering upon the duties of such office shall take and subscribe an oath or affirmation as specified in K.S.A. 54-106, and amendments thereto, and every such oath or affirmation shall be filed with the city clerk.
